is this candle safe for my dog?

Although home fragrances enhance our living space, it's essential to prioritize the safety and well-being of our furry friends. Pets are curious creatures and can unknowingly put themselves at risk around candles if proper precautions aren't taken.

Here are some tips to ensure a harmonious coexistence of candles and animal safety in your home:

Placement is Key:

  • When using candles, consider their location carefully. Opt for elevated positions where pets cannot easily reach or accidentally knock them over. Those happy tails fill our hearts but they can pose a hazard, putting them (and us) at risk for burns.

Try a Flame-less Alternatives:

  • Our selection of reed diffusers and wax melts are flamless ways to add scent into your home.

  • If using a wax melter or candle lamp, make sure to secure cords and wires out of your pet's reach. Dogs and cats are known mischief-makers, so keeping cords discreet or using cord covers can help prevent chewing incidents that may lead to electrical injuries

Never Leave a Candle Unattended

  • It's crucial to never leave a burning candle unattended, especially when pets are present. Curious tails or paws can inadvertently knock them over, resulting in a potential fire hazard. Always extinguish candles before leaving a room, even for a moment, to prioritize the safety of your pets.

  • When you light candles, supervise your pets closely, especially if they have a tendency to investigate everything within their surroundings. By being present, you can easily prevent them from approaching or unintentionally interacting with lit candles.

  • If your dog eats a candle- check with your vet. It most likely won’t harm them but the metal clip that holds the wick can cause problems.

Choose Pet-Friendly Scents

While enjoying our candles, ensure these fragrances are safe for your pets. Some essential oils and fragrances can irritate or be toxic to animals, so let’s talk about pet-friendly candle options.

  • Dogs have an amazing sense of smell. Their olfactory system is highly sensitive, allowing them to detect scents that are far beyond our human capabilities. This can be both a blessing and a curse in relation to essential oils. While certain fragrances may be appealing to us, they can be overwhelming and even harmful to our furry companions.

  • Dogs have different metabolisms than humans, and their bodies may not process essential oils in the same way. Certain oils, such as tea tree oil, can be toxic to dogs if ingested or absorbed into their system. It is crucial to consult with a qualified veterinarian and conduct thorough research before introducing any essential oil to your furry friend's routine.

We do not use essential oils in our products

  • Keep an eye on your dog's behavior and any signs of discomfort or distress when introducing any fragrance into their environment. If you notice any adverse reactions, it's best to discontinue the use of the product and seek veterinary advice if the symptoms persist.

Ultimately, the safety of fragrance oils around dogs depends on various factors such as the specific product, quality, and the sensitivity of individual dogs (like people). Prioritizing your pet's well-being by choosing natural, pet-friendly fragrances, limiting small spaces and poor air flow while closely monitoring their interaction with fragrances will help create a happy and healthy environment for both you and your furry companion.
