August Moon Rise is a scent studio built around a simple idea: the things we live with can become part of how we experience our lives.

Candles are lit while dinner is being made. Fragrance settles into rooms where books are read, people gather, music plays, work gets done and ordinary days unfold. Some objects stay with us for years. Others belong to a particular season and then quietly leave.

Everything we make is designed with that life in mind.

Not to perform calm.

Not to perfect the everyday.

But to be lived with.

A particular way of seeing

August Moon Rise is the work of founder Andrea — fragrance maker, collector of beautiful objects, reader, observer, and someone endlessly interested in the way we shape a life through what we notice, choose and return to.

That perspective reaches beyond fragrance.

It lives in books left open on tables. Art and interiors. Music. A good cup of tea. Objects chosen because you love them rather than because they complete an aesthetic. The pleasure of knowing your own taste. The freedom to change your mind.

And, always, in the practice of becoming.

Not becoming someone better, more productive or more polished.

Becoming more at home in the life that is already yours.

The work

Each August Moon Rise piece is shaped by hand in our London, Ontario studio.

Fragrance is approached as composition — sometimes carrying a story, sometimes simply changing the atmosphere of a room. Vessels are chosen as objects meant to belong in a home. Collections are allowed to evolve. Some things become permanent. Some exist briefly. Some leave when their time is finished.

There is no promise that lighting a candle will transform your life.

We think ordinary life is interesting enough already.

A candle can simply burn beside you while you live it.

Everything here is designed to be lived with.
