what does “seasonal scent studio” mean?
At August Moon Rise, seasonal isn’t just about the calendar. It reflects the natural cycles we all move through — moments of growth, rest, and renewal. Each collection is designed to honour those shifts and help you reconnect with your own rhythm.
A scent studio is where fragrance becomes story — each blend crafted to capture a feeling, a season of life, or a ritual in motion. Together, they form the language of modern ritual: seasonal, sensory, and deeply human.

safety tips
Always put your candle on a heat resistant surface
Always keep your candle away from pets and children
Never burn a candle for more than 4 hours (it’s about how hot the container gets)
Never touch the container when it’s hot (you don’t want to burn yourself or cause an accident)
-

what wax and wicks do you use
Our candles are crafted with soy or soy–coconut plant-based waxes, all kosher-certified and free of animal-derived ingredients. They’re never tested on animals — a reflection of our ongoing commitment to compassion and responsible craft.
Each candle features a wood wick made from cherry wood sourced through Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified mills, chosen for its gentle crackle and clean, even burn.
(Legal notice: the wicks we use require this acknowledgment — Pat. www.lumetique.com/patents)
Every vessel is recyclable and refillable, extending the life of both the container and the ritual it holds.
-

what kind of scents do you use
Our fragrances are selected with both ethics and emotion in mind — designed to create beauty without compromise. Every scent used in AMR candles and diffusers is cruelty-free, paraben-free, and phthalate-free, ensuring a clean and safe experience for your space.
Many of our blends are plant-based, made with pure essential oils and aromatic isolates derived solely from natural, raw botanical sources. When nature-based ingredients are unsustainable or over-harvested (as in the case of rosewood), we consciously choose responsible synthetics — safer for both people and planet.
All fragrances are crafted without ingredients found on California’s Proposition 65 list, and are free from:
Carcinogens — materials known or suspected to cause cancer.
Mutagens — substances that alter DNA and may lead to disease.
Reproductive toxins — compounds that affect fertility or fetal development.
Organ toxins — materials that can impair specific organs.
Acute toxins — substances that could cause harm from accidental single exposure.
Each scent is chosen not only for how it smells — but for how it feels: a safe, intentional layer in the experience of modern ritual.

why won't my candle stay lit?
trim · tilt · time
Wood wicks aren’t usually complicated, but every once in a while they need a little more care and patience
1. Tilt, don’t hover.
When lighting your wood wick candle, tilt the candle (not the lighter) at an angle so the flame can travel across the full length of the wick. It sometimes takes a few tries — each wick has its own personality.
2. Keep it short.
It sounds counterintuitive, but shorter is better. A wick trimmed to about 3/16–¼ inch burns best. The wax acts as the wick’s fuel; if the wood is too long, it won’t draw enough wax to sustain a flame. (Sometimes the wick just needs its first trim right out of the box.)
3. Remove the char.
If your candle keeps going out, the top of the wick might be charred or flaking. Gently trim off the blackened bits and relight — this clears the way for the wax to reach the flame again.
With a quick trim, a little tilt, and a touch of patience, your candle will reward you with a steady, even burn — the kind that turns a moment into ritual.
-

why is my candle tunneling ?
Tunnelling happens when the wax burns straight down the middle, leaving unmelted wax along the edges. The good news? It’s completely preventable — it all comes down to the first burn.
The first burn sets the memory.
When lighting your candle for the first time, allow it to burn long enough for the entire surface to melt evenly from edge to edge. This can take 2–4 hours, depending on vessel size.
Once that top layer fully liquefies, your candle “remembers” to burn evenly for the rest of its life — giving you the longest, most beautiful burn possible.
Modern ritual tip: patience on the first burn means longevity in every burn after.
-

burn time guide
Burn time varies based on wick type, vessel shape, and how a candle is used.
The estimates below reflect average, real-world use and are shared to help you choose the format that best fits your space and rhythm.
Approximate Burn Times
225 g candle→ Approximately 50-55 hours
Designed for everyday rituals and shorter burn sessions
400 g candle → Approximately 85-95 hours
Single-wick format with a longer, steadier burn
430 g epoque candle → Approximately 45–55 hours
Dual-wick design for balanced heat and even melting
460 g candle → Approximately 80-90 hours
Single large wood wick, designed for long, even burns
530 g candle → Approximately 55-65 hours
Dual-wick format with extended burn time
600 g ceramic vessel → Approximately 60–70 hours
Designed to last through many evenings
715 g Monument candle → Approximately 70–80+ hours
Our longest-burning format, intended to live in one place
⸻
A note on use
Burn time will vary depending on trim habits, burn length, and environment. For best performance, we recommend allowing the wax to fully melt to the edges during each burn and trimming the wick as needed between uses.
-

which candle size is right for me?
choosing a candle is less about size and more about how you want it to live in your space.
225 g — Everyday Ritual
Best for bedrooms, bathrooms, desks, or gifting.
This is your daily-light candle — easy, familiar, and meant to be replaced often.
If you like switching scents or lighting candles in shorter sessions, start here.
⸻
400–430 g — Core Living Spaces
Ideal for kitchens, home offices, and shared rooms.
These formats offer longer burn time and a steadier presence without feeling oversized.
If you want one candle to last longer but still enjoy variety, this is a good middle ground.
⸻
460–530 g — Statement Burn
Designed for living rooms and open spaces.
These candles burn slowly and evenly, offering depth and longevity without frequent replacement.
If you tend to light one candle consistently rather than rotating many, this size fits well.
⸻
600 g — Seasonal Statement
Perfect for dining tables, entryways, and moments that feel tied to a season.
These are candles you bring out with intention and live with for a while.
If you want a candle to carry you through weeks of evenings, this is the one.
⸻
715 g Monument — The One Candle
Our largest format, designed to stay in one place.
This is the candle you choose when you want one flame to hold a room — through gatherings, quiet nights, and repetition.
If you’re done choosing and want one candle for the season, this is it.
-

why is my candle "sweating"
“Sweating” happens when small beads of fragrance oil rise to the surface of the wax — usually after a sudden temperature change (for example, moving from a warm car to cool air, or vice versa).
Because AMR candles are made with natural soy wax, they’re sensitive to shifts in temperature. The oils are simply separating temporarily; your candle hasn’t gone bad.
If this happens, allow the candle to come to room temperature, then gently blot the surface with a paper towel. The candle will burn beautifully once lit.
To prevent sweating, avoid storing your candles in hot cars, cold garages, or direct sunlight.
Modern ritual tip: natural wax breathes with the seasons — it’s part of its quiet authenticity.
-

why can't I burn all the wax in the candle?
According to the National Candle Association, candles should never be burned all the way to the bottom of their container — for both safety and vessel preservation.
As the wax level lowers, the vessel can become too hot, potentially cracking, shattering, or damaging the surface beneath it.
For safety, always discontinue burning when about ½ inch of wax remains.
You can absolutely reuse your vessel — just clean it out once fully cooled and repurpose it for refills or other uses. But never relight a candle once it has reached that final half inch.
Modern ritual tip: knowing when to stop is part of the ritual, too.
-

why did my candle change colour?
If your candle has developed a soft amber or brownish hue over time, it’s likely due to vanillin, a natural component found in many fragrance blends — especially those with warm, sweet notes like vanilla, tonka, or amber.
Vanillin reacts to UV light and oxygen exposure, which can cause mild discoloration in soy-based waxes. This change is purely aesthetic and has no effect on scent or performance.
A note on nature and chemistry:
While vanilla comes from hand-pollinated orchid blossoms — about 600 flowers for just one kilogram of cured beans — vanillin is a single organic compound that represents roughly 80% of vanilla’s natural aroma. It’s often used in fragrance design to create fullness and stability within a blend.
To minimize colour change, store your candle with the lid on and away from direct sunlight.
Modern ritual tip: some shifts in colour are part of the candle’s natural life — a quiet reminder that even stillness changes with light.
-

what is a reed diffuser?
A reed diffuser offers a flameless way to scent your space, releasing fragrance gently and continuously — a quiet ritual for the home that blends function with beauty. We use a diffuser base that is 100% natural and is designed for optimal fragrance throw and formulated with no phthalates or parabens and 0% VOC content.
+Vegan
+GMO free
+Free of Allergens
+Free of Prop 65 IngredientsHow to use your diffuser:
Choose your location.
Place your diffuser in a space with natural airflow — a hallway, living room, or bedroom — but avoid direct sunlight or heat sources, which can cause the oils to evaporate faster.Remove the stopper.
Uncap the bottle to allow the fragrance to absorb into the reeds.Insert the reeds.
Submerge the ends into the oil. The more reeds you use, the stronger the scent will be.Flip occasionally.
For a fresh burst of aroma, gently flip the reeds every week or two so the saturated ends are exposed to the air.Maintain your ritual.
When the oil level is low or the scent begins to fade, refill your diffuser and replace the reeds if needed. A light dusting keeps them clear and effective.AMR diffusers are designed as both aromatic and aesthetic objects, offered in vessels that integrate seamlessly with your decor — from minimalist to artful, each one invites calm into your space through still fragrance rather than flame.
Modern ritual tip: scent doesn’t always need to flicker to be felt.

how do I use linen spray?
AMR linen sprays are made with a base of witch hazel and fine fragrance oils, designed to refresh fabrics and create a gentle atmosphere of calm.
How to use:
Shake well before each use.
The natural ingredients can separate over time; a quick shake blends them evenly.Mist lightly.
Hold the bottle 12–18 inches away and mist above your linens rather than directly onto them — especially with light or delicate fabrics.Allow to dry.
Let the fabric air-dry for a few minutes before contact.Where to use:
Perfect for bedding, pillows, curtains, and upholstery — or as a soft scent in your entryway or workspace.Care & safety:
Always test on a small, hidden area first.
Avoid direct contact with eyes, face, and pets.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Each bottle offers a simple ritual of refreshment — a mist of scent that turns the ordinary into something intentional.
Modern ritual tip: scent your space, then pause long enough to notice the shift.
-

how many times may I refill my vessel?
Each vessel may be renewed up to three times before it is ready to rest.
Why three refills?
Glass, like flame, has its own season. Three renewals preserve both safety and integrity — ensuring each vessel remains strong, beautiful, and true to its purpose.
How should I prepare my vessel?
Allow your candle to fully cool.
Place the vessel in hot (not boiling) water to soften any remaining wax.
Gently wipe clean with a soft cloth — no scraping needed.
Ensure the vessel is completely dry before placing your refill.
Your vessel is now ready to be renewed
When is it time to retire a vessel?
At the first sign of wear — a crack, a chip, or simply the completion of its third renewal.
Retirement is not an ending, but the beginning of its second life.
Modern ritual tip: renewal has limits by design — a reminder that even beauty needs boundaries.

Candle Safety
WARNING: Never leave a burning candle unattended. Always burn within sight and keep away from flammable objects, drafts, children, and pets.
Burn only on a stable, heat-safe surface and avoid sudden temperature changes. For best results, allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface before extinguishing. Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
Keep the wax pool free of debris and the wick centered and trimmed to 3/16”–1/4” before each lighting (only trim when the candle is at room temperature). Discontinue use when ½ inch of wax remains.
Do not move or touch the vessel while the candle is lit or while the wax is still liquid — containers will become very hot during and immediately after burning.
